From an early age Dan loved to draw, in particular he loved drawing house plans. In high school, he won several awards for his residential drawings, but he considered his interest in home design to be more of a hobby than a career idea. After college, Dan spent ten years working for a civil engineering firm, but he continued his hobby of developing floor plans and remodeling plans for the enjoyment of it.

In 1976, Dan was encouraged by family and friends to pursue his love of home design and house construction as a career. Dan began by working as an residential designer for a major high-end custom home builder, but moved on to design and build his own first home in 1981. By 1984, Dan was designing and constructing new luxury homes on the Geist Reservoir that had challenging site requirements, and he was able to utilize his background working at a civil engineer firm to the benefit of his clients.

Many of Dan’s family members have also made a career in the home building industry, including Dan’s wife, Deborah, who is a licensed about-dan-elliott-custom-homes-blueprintsREALTOR® with 25 years of experience in the home mortgage industry.
